Amy Lear Counselling

Individual, Couple and Family Counselling

Amy is a highly qualified and experienced relationship counsellor on Sydney's  Northern Beaches. She provides individual, couple and family therapy as well as clinical supervision. Amy specialises in supporting people in their  significant relationships, whether that be with their life partner, children, family members or as they navigate separation and divorce. Amy's clients appreciate her warm, caring and calm manner and the safe space she creates with them to explore and reflect on their relationship issues. To ensure that counselling is more accessible, Amy provides low cost counselling to people experiencing financial hardship. Counselling sessions with Amy are available on a Friday. In person sessions are held in Seaforth and online sessions via Zoom are also available.

Amy utilises a range of therapeutic approaches in her work including family systems theory, attachment theory, emotion focused therapy and the Gottman method. Amy is experienced in working with people who have experienced domestic and family violence and her work is trauma informed and prioritises emotional and physical safety. 

Amy is a trained child consultant. A child consultant supports children to have a voice when their parents separate and supports parents to understand and meet their children's needs during this challenging time. Amy's experience as a Child Consultant has provided her with a unique insight into the experience of children in the context of separation and divorce. 

Amy is a qualified and experienced Circle of Security (COS) Facilitator. Circle of Security is an evidenced based parenting program that focuses on building secure attachments between children and their parents. Amy facilitates COS parenting groups as well as utilising the COS approach in individual and couple counselling sessions with parents. 

Amy is also trained in clinical supervision and has provided clinical supervision to counsellors and group facilitators working in a large non government counselling organisation for many years. Amy provides a safe and non judgemental space for therapists to reflect on and develop their practice. 

Areas of Expertise

Cost

Individual and couple sessions are 60 minutes and cost $150.

Family sessions are 90 minutes and cost $220. ​

If you are experiencing financial hardship, please discuss this with Amy during your initial consultation. If your combined gross household income is below $50k, sessions will cost $25. A limit of 6 sessions will provided.  

 

​Please note that if less than 48 hours notice is provided for cancellations, session fees will be charged.
